Members

Bandleader and only steady member of the band Naas Alcameth also had a solo project called Rhune, which released two split albums with the band Bellum in 2001 and 2005. The latter one included a song named „For Blood and Soil„, which is a common ideological Nazi term. The logo of Rhune included an Othala-Rune, that of Bellum a Celtic Cross.

With his other band Nightbringer he features an ideologue of the Italian Fascist party, Julius Evola, in samples (Terra Damnate, 2017). In an interview with Decibel magazine Naas Alcameth describes Evola as „an individual who is of great importance to us all„.

Naas Alcameth’s personal (though then public) activities on social media included following alt-right activist Lauren Southern, posting photos as being part of the right-wing extremist organization „Operation Werewolf„, displaying Black Sun patches and pendants.

The band published a statement after mentioned accusations on its social media channels (e.g. on Facebook, 14.05.2022):

We are currently receiving repeated requests to issue a statement that clarifies our stance on a variety of earthly matters. This is our response: journalists or bloggers who want to know more about any of the ideas and concepts expressed through our lyrics, public communication, and actions are more than welcome to submit an interview request.
As for unrelated societal issues – be advised that Akhlys is a black metal band. Therefore, it makes no sense for us to position ourselves in political arenas of which discourse we have never partaken. Even worse, being pressured into doing so would be embarrassing, weak, and contrary to everything this music stands for.
These words are all we have to say about this – those who feel it is insufficient are advised to simply ignore us henceforth. Akhlys stands in firm opposition to the lunatic cult of cancel culture and artistic censorship, but we no longer bother engaging. For every screenshot peddled as “evidence” of accusations which have long-since lost their meaning, there are ten actual facts ignored.

So, the simple fact of the matter is that we are completely oblivious to the approvals and condemnations of outside parties. The only opinions we place any value in are those expressed by you – our devoted supporters who reside under many different skies but all share a burning passion for real black metal. The fire of Akhlys will always be yours to partake in; to illuminate the night or burn it to ashes.

Afterwards, named social media activities were set to private.
